Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technologist

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform blood serum testing, process 70-100 samples per hour, and utilize advanced laboratory instruments such as the AIX 1000, BioRad PHD, Gold Standard Robo blot, and Phadia instruments. The role involves manual testing for RPR, slide reading/microscopy, and following written lab procedures for the correct handling and processing of specimens.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood serum testing and process 70-100 samples per hour.
• Utilize AIX 1000, BioRad PHD, Gold Standard Robo blot, and Phadia instruments.
• Conduct manual testing for RPR and slide reading/microscopy.
• Follow written lab procedures for handling and processing specimens.
• Troubleshoot laboratory machinery and equipment.
• Provide software analysis for all results.
• Review all pertinent information for accuracy and completeness of results before releasing in the Laboratory Information System.
• Recognize unexpected or unreasonable results and/or testing delays.
• Follow protocols for the acceptance/rejection of patient results.
• Locate and transport specimens according to company standards and protocols.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or Medical Laboratory Science.
• At least 1 year of professional laboratory experience.
• Experience with both manual and automated lab tests.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related life science.
• Combination of education and experience that meets CLIA personnel standard criteria.
• ASCP certification is a plus.

Work Environment

The position operates on a Tuesday to Saturday shift from 9am to 5:30pm. The department primarily functions during the day shift, with a supportive team of 5-6 technologists and 4-5 lab assistants. Training will be provided directly with experienced technologists. The role is contract-based for approximately 640 hours, around 4 months, to cover for a main technologist on FMLA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.50 - $38.50/hr.
