Job Description
- As a Project Manager, you will provide leadership in the development and execution of multiple construction projects at a client facility.
- This role requires you to be highly motivated and self-starting, as you will be responsible for estimating, scheduling, and completing projects in compliance with all building codes and OSHA requirements.
- You will collaborate with a diverse team including research staff, facilities management, facilities engineers, environmental health and safety (EHS) personnel, security, digital technology experts, and consultants to develop project scopes and designs.
Responsibilities
- Develop cost estimates, bid drawings and specifications, materials lists, estimated man-hours, and construction schedules.
- Work with a unionized workforce to secure materials and schedule trades to complete tasks.
- Ensure overall safety and compliance within your construction team.
- Prioritize workload and establish aggressive timelines for project completion.
- Set clear expectations for the team and drive accountability.
- Provide customers with regular communications including progress updates and issue resolution.
- Manage a team of hourly employees to meet EHS, quality, and productivity goals.
- Coordinate communications between EHS, engineering, and customers to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal codes and requirements.
- Coordinate all matters regarding administration of hourly union contracts, including work assignments, attendance, personnel matters, grievance resolution, and contract interpretation.
- Schedule and conduct required safety meetings.
- Exemplify and champion leadership behaviors including acting with humility, leading with transparency, and delivering with focus.
- Drive a lean culture by leveraging kaizen processes for continuous improvement.
- Utilize Six Sigma methodologies to improve customer service and deliver cost-effective solutions.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
- At least 1 year of construction experience, ideally in the field.
- Self-motivated and ambitious.
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Broad knowledge of cost estimating for maintenance and construction projects.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including MS Project or other Project Management Software.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, among an hourly workforce.
- Ability to work autonomously and under pressure with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
- Willingness to handle emergencies outside of normal working hours.
- Ability to build and influence strong networks internally and externally, and work in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment.
Work Environment
- The work environment includes construction, lab facilities.
- The role will be mainly indoors but requires walking between multiple buildings
- You will work with and near a variety of individuals, including scientists, engineers, construction trades, subcontractor leadership, and company leadership teams.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
