Job Title: QC Chemist
Job Description
Under indirect supervision, the QC Chemist is responsible for conducting routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials and final products. The role involves compiling data for documentation of test procedures, reviewing data for compliance with specifications, and collaborating with various departments on documentation, testing, and implementation of final product availability. The QC Chemist may also prepare chemical solutions, test components, and assist in other lab activities, including miscellaneous administrative and housekeeping duties.
Responsibilities
- Perform highly complex laboratory data acquisition, manipulation, and analysis.
- Compile data and compute results, ensuring quality control and compliance with protocol.
- Prepare standard solutions and reagents for analytical procedures.
- Perform GC analysis and interpretation, titrations, specific gravity determination, refractive index measurement, and sensory evaluation of raw materials and final products.
- Make suggestions for improvements in techniques and interpretation, as appropriate.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including the use of complex and/or specialized statistical and scientific computer programs.
- Comply with all environmental and safety policies and procedures.
- Practice safety and environmental control methods.
- Ensure daily compliance with Federal food safety regulations/laws, all related policies, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Perform related work as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field.
- 1 year of experience in an analytical/QC laboratory.
- Proficiency in chemistry lab skills.
- Experience with Gas Chromatography (GC) and GC-MS.
- Knowledge of GMP and standard Windows programs.
- Excellent math, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in chemical laboratory work.
- Ability to perform data entry, compile information, and prepare reports and other statistical information.
Work Environment
The QC Chemist will work on the 1st shift with a flexible start time ranging from 7am to 9am. The work environment includes both an interior/office setting and a laboratory. The role may require heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling, and handling containers using physical and mechanical means, which may exceed 50 pounds. The team consists of 6 members, including the manager. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr.
