Job Description

The position is responsible for performing quality audits on products and processes at various points during receiving, production, and packaging to ensure adherence to company quality standards. The role includes tasks such as product sampling, line monitoring, auditing, lab testing, and calibration to ensure compliance with specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform QC tasks including product sampling, line monitoring, auditing, lab testing, and calibration to ensure compliance to specifications
• Hold products that do not meet company quality standards and provide the appropriate dispositions
• Understand all of the information contained within a product specification sheet
• Be knowledgeable of the quality characteristics for the product packaged
• Conduct lab testing procedures such as brix, refractory index, PH, density, sensory, weights, moisture, testing, etc.
• Work with pH meter, viscosity meter, GCMS

Essential Skills

• Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related science field (AA/BA/BS)
• 1 year experience in Food QC work with specific testing experience
• Ability to conduct lab testing procedures such as brix, refractory index, PH, density, sensory, weights, moisture, testing, etc.
• Knowledge of quality control processes and standards
• Ability to wear a half-face respirator when working with specific chemicals in production
• Willingness to work early morning shifts and weekends as needed

Work Environment

The role involves working in a lab setting testing food for pH, and viscosity. The company is extremely busy, with production working 7 days a week, which requires QC support all 7 days. Candidates should be willing to work one day on the weekend, resulting in a 6-day workweek. The shift time for 1st shift is from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with rotating weekend shifts. Shift hours on Saturday or Sunday may vary. The company tries to schedule personnel to avoid back-to-back weekend work, but flexibility is required to cover for absences or vacations. The lab must be staffed to accommodate production schedules.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
