Job Title: Quality Control Specialist
Job Description
Assist the interim Quality Manager at the HDG plant in all aspects of the Quality Management System, aligning with BL SI Global Q Processes. This role includes maintaining an auditable Quality System according to ISO-9001, GFSI certifications (Food Safety), and any other regulated industry certifications. Ensure the quality of services and products by utilizing risk assessment principles to improve processes. Assist with the management of the Quality Control lab to ensure process control and customer requirements are met on a timely basis.
Responsibilities
- Improve the local Quality Management System, aligning with BL SI Global Q Processes, and maintain an auditable Quality System according to ISO-9001, GFSI certifications (Food Safety), and other regulated industry certifications.
- Track goals and key performance indicators for the group in alignment with Q Global Targets, report Quality Metrics, and monitor measured improvement. Conduct annual Management Reviews.
- Assist with preparation and conducting of all site audits, including customer audits, certification audits, Technical Visits, and Regulatory Inspections. Develop, maintain, and conduct internal audits. Manage timely responses and follow-up on corrective actions for findings to maintain compliance.
- Assist with Supplier Qualification and monitor supplier performance/audit program, addressing non-conformances related to raw materials or services. Ensure adherence to the Management of Change process and advise the plant management team on MOCs impacting Quality and Regulated Products.
- Assist in managing the Quality Control Lab and coordinate day-to-day laboratory activities, ensuring proper test methods are aligned with Global and Regional Reference labs guidance for testing on raw materials, in-process and environmental samples, and final products.
- Monitor production processes, product quality, and serve as final release authority for any atypical events or results. Ensure appropriately rigorous processes are established for OOS investigations and timely product release.
- Review SPC data as part of day-to-day operations support and when investigating product quality issues. Work with Production and process engineers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- University degree in a science-related field or high school/Associate degree with more than 3 years of laboratory experience and understanding of straightforward laboratory procedures or systems.
- Basic experience of working in a chemistry laboratory.
Work Environment
The position is based in an old Silica plant with old equipment. The company has a sustainability initiative and provides the opportunity to work autonomously in a large company environment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr.
