Responsibilities

• Understand and follow a batch ticket (recipe) with high degree of accuracy for weights and measurements.
• Perform a wide variety of complex testing processes on production batches to measure product’s physical or chemical characteristics. Tests include viscosity, weight per unit of measure, flow, gloss, color characteristics, and various other similar tests.
• Test materials from suppliers and batches from production.
• Perform standard testing procedures, including prep of materials, with attention to detail and high quality.
• Follow daily work plan for Lab Work Request or project plan.
• Accurately document work in lab notebooks (either physical or electronic).
• Recognize roadblocks or anomalies; resolve them or communicate concerns with a chemist in a timely manner.
• Ensure raw materials are available and correctly labeled.
• Correctly label and mail samples.
• Maintain clean and organized work environment.
• Tint batches without assistance.
• Calculate resin composites.
• Maintain QC records using a web-based computer system.
• Prepare records for submission.
• Test on lab equipment including viscosity, pH, weight per gallon, % solids.
• Draw downs.
• Use of ovens.
• Maintain and perform calibrations on machines.

Qualifications

• Not color blind
• Prior quality/wet lab experience or entry level graduate with AS or BS in Science
• Prior experience with color matching
• Experience working with paint, pigments, coatings
• Industrial lab experience doing basic wet chemistry including viscosity, pH, % solids

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.25 - $25.25
