Safety Manager – Electrical Utilities

Job Description:

This position reports to the Environmental Health and Safety Controller and will primarily support the Actalent Services Utilities Segment.

The Actalent Services Safety Managaer will need to be able to develop safety programs for Actalent Services to include project safety awareness through training, program development, and periodic site inspections. The Actalent Services SM will be tasked with developing safety metrics, medical surveillance, and coordinating or performing work site inspections to detect potential hazards.

Additionally, this position will work closely with controllers and delivery managers on RFP’s and Service Agreements to ensure that Actalent Services can comply or has the infrastructure to support projects from a health and safety standpoint. At times this will require the hiring of additional safety professionals that will be managed by the Actalent Services Safet Manager.

The position requires 5 years of: directs, monitors, and assists with wide range of analytical, technical, process, procedural, and administrative functions related to safety and regulatory compliance. This position is responsible for provision of general guidance, direction, advice, and requirements in all areas of occupational safety & health, and for specialized expertise in designated industry specific, program, and technical areas of safety & health. Incumbent will perform field safety audits of client premises, conduct risk assessments, complete analysis, measurement, and reports as directed, do post-accident investigations, coach and educate all levels of management and employees, complete all required actions & activities of client and company safety programs, and take all appropriate action to insure compliance with Federal, State, and internal rules, regulations and standards. Maintain ISNetworld and Avetta accounts.

Under direction of the Environmental Health and Safety Controller, the Regional Safety Manager is the regional expert and resource in occupational safety & health. As such, the Regional Safety Manager will work closely with all levels of regional staffs and regional controllers to improve or maintain all areas of occupational safety & health performance, to reduce exposures, injuries, risks, and costs, and to identify and maximize business opportunities for the company.

Essential Functions:

• Communicate Safety related information to all levels of specific regions

• Provide insight into safety regulations as they pertain to ongoing or upcoming operations through site visits and hazard analysis

• Perform client site visits, audits

• Conduct accident investigations

• Analyze loss information and identify trends/solutions

• Provide training in variety of settings

Supervisory or Management Responsibilities:

• Work experience in safety, occupational health and/or risk management

• Lead the implementation of EHS programs and initiatives

• Lead the investigation of all workplace incidents to determine root cause and develop actions to prevent reoccurrence

• Ensure ISNetworld programs and needed information are current and up to date

• Willingness to complete prescribed and continuing classes, coursework, or other education and/or certification is required

• Lead the implementation of EHS programs and initiatives

Education Requirements:

• Minimum Education/Abilities/Skills: Educational experience in the area of occupational safety or a closely related field is helpful

• OSHA 30 Construction

• ARC Flash training certification is a plus

Special Requirements:

• Willing to travel up to 50%

• Ability to communicate efficiently both verbally and in writing
