The general duties and responsibilities of the chemist include but are not limited to the following:
Responsibilities
- Conduct methods development and methods validation for products in development.
- Conduct routine testing or other analysis in a specific group or department setting.
- Conduct advanced testing and/or critical testing, as required.
- Operate specialized equipment or conduct specialized skill testing.
- Participate in investigation activities.
- Operate a computer and analytical instrument software, including Empower, Chromeleon, Lab solutions, and LIMS.
- Develop efficient and selective analytical procedures and draft/review laboratory SOPs.
- Support equipment validation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Identify discrepancies, initiate, and investigate OOS/OOT results.
- Write and revise standard quality control operation procedures/SOPs.
- Collaborate as a team player with excellent communication skills in a highly dynamic, cross-disciplinary environment.
- Demonstrate flexibility, ability, and commitment to work on multitask projects to meet expected deadlines.
Essential Skills
- Experience in methods development and methods validation.
- Skilled and hands-on experience with ICP-MS, ICP-OES, UV, HPLC, GC, IC, and Dissolution instruments.
- Proficient in operating computer and analytical instrument software, including Empower, Chromeleon, Lab solutions, and LIMS.
- Experience with UV-Vis, LC (Liquid Chromatograph), GC (Gas Chromatography), and spectroscopy techniques like IR.
- 3-6 years of pharmaceutical methods development and validation using HPLC.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Must have a life science related degree, preferably a chemistry degree.
- Experience in pharmaceuticals or strong nutraceutical experience is preferred.
- Experience with solid dose pharmaceuticals (liquids and powders).
- Experience with Particle Size, Dissolution, DVS (dynamic vapor sorption), XRPD (x-ray powder diffraction), MS (mass spectrometry), and NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) is a plus.
- Experience with PAT (Process analytical technologies) and E&L (extractable and leachables) studies is a big plus.
Work Environment
This role works in a cGMP laboratory or manufacturing environment, where personal protective equipment is required, which may include uniforms, lab coats, safety glasses, respiratory protective equipment, hearing protection, etc. Work with or around solvents, powders, or other materials commonly found in a pharmaceutical laboratory or manufacturing facility is required. The shift is Monday through Friday with flexible hours between 8 am to 1 pm, ensuring a full 8-9 hour workday. Overtime is preferred but optional on weekends.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $49.00 - $59.60/hr.
