Job Title: Substation Engineer

*Per Diem and transportation costs fully covered if not local to Covert, Michigan. This is a 6 month project.

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Substation Engineer to join our team for a fully onsite position. This role involves assessing a high voltage substation, taking ownership of project performance, and working closely with field teams. The position is guaranteed from May to November, with the potential for a longer-term opportunity based on performance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct onsite assessments of high voltage substations.
• Take ownership of all aspects of project performance, including scheduling, safety, budget, and reporting.
• Collaborate with field teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Assess relays, controls, equipment, and communication systems of high voltage substations.
• Utilize construction software for project management.
• Create, organize, and maintain an accurate file storage system for the project.
• Oversee the installation of equipment, manage various onsite crews, ensure site safety, and adhere to work-plans and schedules.

Essential Skills

• Experience with high voltage substations, including relays, controls, and communication systems.
• Knowledge of electrical construction and power delivery.
• Expertise in safety engineering and power utilities.
• Proficiency in construction management and substation equipment.
• Experience with substation construction, maintenance, and transformer design.
• Commissioning and electrical engineering skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 10 years of high voltage substation or nuclear experience.
• Ability to diagnose substation components, including controls, relays, and communication systems.
• Experience with construction software such as Procore or similar.
• Proficiency in MS Outlook, Office, and Word.

Work Environment

This role is a 6-month project from May to November, located onsite at Covert, MI (Palisades). The candidate will be onsite 100% of the time, 7 days per week. Per diem for meals and lodging is $132/day or $939/week unless local. Flights home will be paid for every 4-6 weeks, or alternatively, one person can fly to the candidate on the same timeline. Flight costs will be reimbursed immediately, and costs for flights, rental car, and fuel will be covered.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $80.00/hr.
