Job Description
We are seeking an experienced federal superintendent to oversee a Coast Guard facility project in Kodiak, Alaska. This project involves interior and exterior maintenance and repair with an estimated budget of $10 million, and it is scheduled to last 18 months. The Superintendent will coordinate all site construction activities and supervise field personnel to ensure the project is completed on schedule and within budget, maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise all construction activities.
- Direct field personnel to complete the project on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards per original plans and specifications.
- Maintain daily communication with the project manager for compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain the construction schedule, identifying and resolving issues.
- Keep accurate as-built drawings.
- Articulate timely requests for information in the company's best interest.
- Review subcontractors' Schedule of Values for percentage completion and Pay Applications.
- Coordinate and negotiate subcontractor change order pricing.
- Update mandatory safety documentation as the project progresses.
- Submit and procure materials for self-performance work.
- Order materials and schedule inspections as necessary.
- Stay familiar with requirements from the US Army Corps of Engineers and NAVFAC.
- Implement US Army Corps of Engineers' Quality Control Requirements and reporting procedures.
- Maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and employees, ensuring safety, quality standards, and schedule adherence.
- Supervise the project from NTP through final punch list and turnover.
- Promote and administer job site safety, encourage safe work practices, and address hazards immediately.
- Ensure all company employees and contractors adhere to safety and quality standards and schedule.
- Maintain an organized job site, including the construction office.
- Enforce EEO/AA compliance.
Essential Skills
- 10 years of experience in building construction/tenant improvement/remodeling.
- 5 years of experience as a Superintendent on design-bid-build federal projects of $10 million in scope.
- Experience with NAVFAC, US Army Corps of Engineers, or Coast Guard facility projects.
- 30-hour OSHA Safety Construction certification within the last 5 years.
- First Aid CPR & AED Training within the last 2 years.
- EM385 1-1 Certification, SSHO, CQCM.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, and Primavera scheduling software.
- Capable of performing minor scopes of work, such as carpentry, drywall, cleaning, and demolition.
- Skilled in project estimation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Experience working on construction projects with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and/or the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC).
- Valid driver's license with a clean or acceptable driving record as determined by company standards.
Work Environment
The work environment is onsite at the project in Kodiak, Alaska, with a temporary office setup. Meal/incidental per diem will be provided along with mobilization and demobilization support. The Superintendent will be working in a beautiful landscape, ensuring the project's successful completion in adherence to safety and quality standards.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52.88 - $57.69/hr.
