Job Title: Survey Crew Chief

Job Description

Our Surveying Department is seeking a Survey Crew Chief responsible for performing topographic, boundary, and utility surveys to determine numeric measurements and elevations for land development, parking lots, and buildings. The data collected in the field is provided to drafters and designers for creating new structures and developments. Projects include public and private works such as airports, highways, and city projects.

Responsibilities

• Conduct topographic, boundary, and utility surveys to determine numeric measurements and elevations.
• Measure and record 3D positions of specific points, distances, angles, and land elevations.
• Provide accurate field data to drafters and designers.
• Work on various public and private projects including airports, highways, and city developments.
• Scan, plot, and measure points to create a surveying plan for customers.
• Accurately calculate and record field data.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain survey equipment.
• Demonstrate accuracy, quality, and compliance with budget and productivity standards.
• Maintain and organize survey trucks.
• Ensure safety awareness and preparedness for daily work.
• Generate suggestions for improving workflow and cost savings.

Essential Skills

• 2 years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief.
• Experience with construction staking and layout.
• Clean driving record.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with AutoCAD.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Technology.
• Experience with Civil 3D or MicroStation CAD.
• Knowledge of LIDAR technology.

Work Environment

This position requires 40-50 hours per week, with 70% of the time spent in the field and 30% in the office. The team drives to the Rochester Hills office, then travels to sites in a company truck.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr.
