Job Title: Traffic Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Traffic Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in traffic engineering, transportation planning, and Intelligent Transportation Systems. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and project management skills to develop and oversee traffic and safety projects.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Project Manager, Project Lead, or Task Lead in traffic and safety project development.
• Prepare traffic impact studies, traffic signal warrant studies, intersection design studies, safety studies, bicycle planning, and technical report writing.
• Design traffic signal plans for new and modified intersections, construction sequencing, pavement marking plans, signing plans, and traffic control plans.
• Provide technical assistance and quality control oversight on traffic engineering studies and design projects.
• Support local and national practice areas in traffic engineering.

Essential Skills

• Must have a Professional Engineer (PE) license or be able to obtain it within the first 6 months of employment.
• At least 4 years of traffic engineering experience.
• Proficiency in OpenRoads (Microstation software) with at least a 6/10 proficiency level.
• Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
• Requires an Arizona Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Master of Science in Civil Engineering is a plus.
• Membership in professional organizations such as ITE.
• Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) or Road Safety Professional 1 (RSP1) certification is a plus.
• Working knowledge of MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, or other advanced software packages.
• Familiarity with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and the AASHTO Green Book.
• Experience with DOT, local county, municipal, and developer-driven transportation and traffic projects.
• Proficiency with SYNCHRO, HCS, SIDRA, VISSIM, CORSIM, or other traffic capacity and analysis software.

Work Environment

This position offers a hybrid work schedule at our Phoenix, AZ location, with 2 days in the office and 3 days remote. Employees also enjoy every other Friday off. The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $115000.00/yr.
