Job Title: Weld Production Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Weld Production Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be working in our Columbus facility, which is the largest forklift manufacturing site in the world. Our plant specializes in manufacturing custom forklifts ranging from 1 ton to 8 tons. As we expand with a new 250,000 square foot facility, you will be instrumental in setting up and moving manufacturing processes for both the new and existing plants.

Responsibilities

• Manage capital projects, focusing on reducing headcount and automating processes (35-40%).
• Troubleshoot issues on the production line when maintenance cannot resolve them (10%).
• Conduct downtime and quality investigations (20-30%).
• Design tooling for welding from prints provided by the new product development team (10%).
• Split time between project management responsibilities and hands-on troubleshooting of equipment.
• Work on specific projects, collaborating with vendors/suppliers, managing new launch activities, performing machine builds/installation, and reducing downtime.
• Assist in troubleshooting or repairing equipment/processes when maintenance or quality teams cannot resolve issues.
• Support projects with design for manufacturing work, including tooling, fixtures, and machines, using CATIA.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• 1 years of relevant experience post-graduation.
• Experience in robotic welding, welding, and machining in a manufacturing environment.
• Tooling/fixture design experience with a focus on design for manufacturing.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Project management experience, including leading plant or capital projects.

Work Environment

The candidate will split their time between floor support and office work. Core hours are 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with overtime paid during the contract period but not once converted to full-time. For every non-production day worked as a full-time employee, you will receive 1 to 1 comp time, which is the same as PTO. You can roll over 40 hours of comp time and will be paid out the remaining balance. The facility includes processes for sheet metal cutting, steel saw cutting, CNC machining, press brake and hydraulic press forming, manual and robotic MIG welding, resistance welding, powder coating, painting, assembly, and inspection, as well as hydraulic cylinder and hose manufacturing.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $38.46/hr.
