The TSDF EHS Specialist combines rigorous scientific knowledge, familiarity with regulatory requirements, and technical expertise to conduct thorough assessments to identify and minimize risks that would result in legal action or fines, potential injuries, and ensure compliance with current laws and to preserve health and safety. This position conducts both facility and desk-based research and prepares detailed professional reports on their findings and / or recommendations to the TSDF Director.

Primary Responsibilities (In Alphabetical Order)

  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Act as an internal ACT resource, as needed
  • Complete assignments completely, and on time, every time.
  • Conduct inspections and audits of the TSDF to identify safety, health or environmental issues and recommend appropriate corrective or preventive actions.
  • Develop and provide employee training for a variety of health and safety and environmental subjects and topics.
  • Ownership of assigned tasks and deadlines by TSDF Director
  • Prepare permits or regulatory documents and assist with regulatory agency inspections.
  • Proactive in identifying gaps and finding opportunities for improvement.
  • Self-leadership; completing assignments in an efficient manner, organizing and prioritizing schedule.

  • Robust understanding of EHS regulatory compliance for local region.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and support multiple projects and interactions.
  • Primary skills desired :

  • Knowledge / experience with RCRA hazardous waste regulations.
  • Knowledge / experience with DOT hazard classes and applications in waste management.
  • Familiarity with the EPA Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifesting system for transport of waste.
  • Related tasks to be performed :

  • Review inbound hazardous waste manifests prior to receiving.
  • Signing of waste manifests upon receipt.
  • Performing Daily / Monthly / Quarterly facility compliance inspections.
  • Addressing outstanding issues from compliance inspections.
  • Review of operating record daily for aging or problematic inventory.
  • Performing outbound shipment document audits.
  • Review of new outbound waste profiles.
  • Ensuring the QIP is 100%
  • Routine audits of container location.
  • Additional desired skills and tasks :

  • Oversee quarterly maintenance on all machines and equipment.
  • Well-versed in safety applications and regulations in a waste management setting.
  • Emergency response planning.
  • Incident reporting and completion.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities in the area of safety and promoting a safe work environment.
