Position Summary:
Action Group Fabricating is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer / Designer to join our team in Tulsa, OK. This role is responsible for producing production-ready designs for generator enclosures, UL-listed fuel tanks, subframes, and service platforms. The ideal candidate will transform customer-approved drawings into precise, manufacturable designs with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create production-ready models, drawings, and work packets within estimated hours.
- Manage engineering workflow from customer-approved drawings through final production.
- Perform structural calculations for wind and seismic loads; design reinforcement structures as needed.
- Collaborate with the Production Manager to quickly resolve shop floor issues.
- Ensure all designs comply with internal standards and best practices.
- Maintain accuracy in all drawings, work packets, and material estimates to prevent rework and scrap.
- Assemble production packets using standardized templates.
- Nest orders and calculate raw material requirements to complete projects.
- Draft detailed part and assembly drawings for fabrication.
- Follow and meet production schedules for timely design releases to the shop floor.
- Author and release standard process documentation as required.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or 5 years of mechanical design experience.
- Proficient in SolidWorks, PDM, Nesting software, Excel, and ERP systems.
- High attention to detail with strong accountability and work ethic.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical design and production environments.
- In-depth knowledge of sheet metal and weldment design.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks best practices.
- Understanding of fabrication equipment and machine limitations for manufacturable design.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Familiar with OSHA, UL, and NEC codes.
- Skilled in problem-solving, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective/preventive actions.
Salary : $85,000 - $110,000
