Position SummaryThe Quality Technician / CMM Operator is responsible for ensuring product quality through precise inspection, testing, and measurement processes. The role involves operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), conducting quality checks, and supporting quality assurance initiatives to maintain compliance with industry standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100. This position plays a critical role in maintaining product quality, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspection and Measurement
- Operate CMM equipment using software like PCDMIS to conduct accurate measurements of components and assemblies.
- Perform first article inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 standards.
- Use precision tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify product dimensions.
- Document and analyze measurement data to ensure adherence to engineering specifications and quality standards.
- Quality Assurance and Control
- Conduct in-process and final inspections to ensure product conformance.
- Identify and report non-conformances, collaborate on root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Assist in maintaining and auditing the Quality Management System (QMS) to meet AS9100, ISO 9001, and other applicable standards.
- Monitor Statistical Process Control (SPC) and perform Gage R&R studies to maintain measurement accuracy.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, including FAI documentation and bubbled engineering drawings.
- Maintain records of inspections, test results, and calibration of measuring equipment.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and demonstrating compliance processes.
- Collaboration and Support
- Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve quality issues.
- Assist in training personnel on quality inspection procedures and proper use of measuring tools.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to enhancing production quality.
Qualifications
- Education and Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Technical degree or certification in Quality, Manufacturing, or related field (preferred).
- Experience
- 3 years of experience in quality inspection, CMM operation, or related roles.
- knowledge of PCDMIS programming or related software and CMM operation.
- Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Experience with AS9102 FAI and SPC methodologies.
- Skills
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, or ISO 13485 standards.
- Proficient in the use of measurement tools and statistical analysis.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, including root cause analysis.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
Work Environment
- Precision machining or manufacturing environment with exposure to various machinery and inspection equipment.
- Compliance with safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
