Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Outdoor Educator/ Program Leader to join our Summer Camp team at Action Kids Summer Camp. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in developing and implementing outdoor education and activities for campers. Think knot tying, camping survival skills, tent pitching, fire starting! This position requires a passion for working with youth, strong leadership skills, and the ability to create a safe and supportive environment. Duties
- Plan, organize, and lead various outdoor skills tailored to children's interests and developmental needs
- Create, organize, submit, and implement age-appropriate lesson plans for the games campers will be playing each day.
- Engage campers in daily planned activities.
- Set-up and clean-up activities.
- Maintain inventory of program supplies, make Camp Director aware of supplies that are needed.
- Understand camper behaviors and respond appropriately.
- Be vigilant and follow all safety guidelines provided by the camp.
- Participate in all staff trainings and meetings.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during activities.
- Implement behavior management strategies to maintain a positive environment.
- Provide guidance and support to children
- Collaborate with other Program Leaders, as well as the Camp Director and Owner to promote effective communication regarding program objectives.
- Facilitate group discussions and team-building exercises to enhance social skills among participants.
- Stay updated on best practices in childhood development and education.
Requirements
- Experience in childcare or working with children in an educational or camp setting.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and practices.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR certifications are required. If you do not have this certification we will provide training for it.
- Strong skills in classroom management and behavior management techniques.
- Experience in teaching Outdoor Skills at a Summer Camp is helpful.
- Ability to educate children through engaging activities that promote learning.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with children, and staff members.
- A commitment to creating an inclusive environment that respects diversity among participants.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
