Process Engineer - Automotive Parts Manufacturer (35111)

An automotive parts manufacturer in Pendleton, IN is searching for a Process Engineer to lead development of induction heat treatment manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a background in metallurgy or materials engineering with hands-on experience in an industrial manufacturing position.

Responsibilities will include developing and fine-tuning metal tempering processes, testing induction heating equipment, documenting heating procedures with tooling and coiling requirements, and some general production planning with attention to maximizing safety and efficiency.

This is a full-time, direct-hire position with excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401K and paid vacation.

Process Engineer Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement engineering processes related to heating and tempering metal, including testing recipes and equipment for points of failure
• Create high-quality process documentation
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with induction heating equipment and coil design
• Change programs to accommodate customer requirements
• Act as Technical Lead to Engineering Technicians
• Communicate production requirements, including time, staffing, space, and cost estimation
• Interact with vendors to determine appropriate specifications and purchase equipment
• Complete initial start-up installation of equipment, including traveling for machine validation
• Work within tight tolerances
• Other duties as assigned by management

Process Engineer Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Metallurgy preferred, or equivalent
• 3 years of experience with induction heating equipment in an engineering capacity
• Knowledge of metallurgical testing procedures
• Ability to work hands-on
• Experience with CAD software and blueprints
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to organize, communicate technical information to, and collaborate with others
• Previous automotive manufacturing experience a big plus
