The Vice President of Sales will lead a sales team of 15 and a multi-million dollar annual budget Active Interest Media, is a leading producer of magazines; trade shows; conferences; digital media; marketing services; online education and websites. In addition, Active Interest Media serves enthusiasts who love gardening, cars, numismatics, writing, sports collectibles, and do woodworking in their shop and around the house. We offer a wide range of Marketing and Branding Solutions for our clients in an ever-changing fast-paced advertising world.

Professional Responsibilities

Professional demeanor is a must for all positions at Active Interest Media. In addition to courteous, friendly, businesslike behavior, the following qualifications are fundamental to this position:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies aligned with the overall media business objectives, including identifying new market segments and opportunities for revenue growth.
  • Manage and motivate a team of sales representatives, setting clear sales goals, providing coaching and support, and evaluating individual performance.
  • Develop accurate sales forecasts, manage sales budgets, and allocate resources effectively to achieve revenue targets.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activity, and market dynamics to identify new business opportunities and adjust sales strategies accordingly.
  • Track key sales metrics (e.g., revenue, conversion rates, customer satisfaction) to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Weekly updates reported up to CFO on the progress of sales.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Communicate regularly to executive committee regarding revenue updates against budget.
  • Continually launch new products with tech team and educate sales team of new products available for sale.
  • Support sales efforts with proposals that are multi-dimensional including print, online, marketing services, events.
  • Assistance with managing sales CRM and enter complex contracts as needed.
  • Schedule weekly sales calls with the different teams to keep everyone updated on the latest products, trends, sales and company news.
  • Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; keeping the relationship intact.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in sales leadership, preferably in media, publishing, advertising, or digital marketing.
  • Experience managing large sales teams (10 direct reports) and overseeing significant revenue portfolios ($15M ).
  • Experience launching new products and working cross-functionally with technology and product teams.
