Who is Acton ADU?
We’re a rapidly growing team in the Silicon Valley construction space located in Campbell, California. We have a 30-year legacy in construction and our sole focus is on making a positive impact on the California housing crisis.
At Acton, we design, navigate, and build accessory dwelling units (ADUs), also known as backyard homes. These ADUs help create accessible housing options for thousands of homeowners across the Bay Area, while positively impacting people’s lives.
THE ROLE
The Lead Carpenter will perform carpentry and construction duties on multiple projects while assisting in the supervision of 1-3 projects. (This position may eventually lead to a full superintendent position, if desired - if the candidate shows exceptional organizational skills.)
Minimum Skill Requirements
- Extensive construction experience in journeyman-level roles
- Mastery of plan reading
- Thorough knowledge of residential building procedures and familiarity with CA Building Codes
- Solid math skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with in house labor, office staff, subcontractors, and inspectors
Responsibilities
- Independently lead crew in quality, efficient carpentry and construction work
- Assist Project Manager on overall project site supervision on one or more projects
- Meet with subcontractors and internal labor to ensure understanding of scope and expectations
- Perform QC and sign off on internal team’s & vendors’ work
- Teach, instruct, and assist internal labor to perform tasks as needed to ensure timely, quality work.
- Order lumber and “off the shelf” materials and supplies
- Enforce a clean and safe work environment, jobsite conditions, and team behavior
- Complete various daily administrative tasks such as times cards, checklists, daily logs
- Participate in periodic team meetings as needed
