Position Overview:
The Trusts and Estates Associate will be involved in a wide variety of estate planning and administration matters, including drafting estate planning documents, handling estate and trust administration, conducting complex tax research, and advising closely-held businesses. Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.
- Hands-on involvement with estate and trust administration, managing the administration of decedent’s estates and trusts.
- Conducting complex research on tax-related issues, particularly involving estate, gift, and income taxes.
- Preparing federal gift and estate tax returns (Forms 706 and 709).
- Reviewing court accountings and preparing related petitions for adjudication, trust modifications, and nonjudicial settlement agreements.
- Advising owners of closely held businesses on estate and succession planning.
- Providing counsel on tax-exempt and charitable planning matters.
- 5 years of experience in trusts and estates law, with a focus on estate and tax planning, estate administration, and trust administration.
- LLM in Taxation preferred, or the willingness to pursue an LLM.
- Excellent academic credentials and a strong work ethic.
- A demonstrated commitment to a career in trusts and estates law.
- Experience with closely-held business planning, tax-exempt organizations, and charitable planning is a plus.
- Must be licensed to practice in New Jersey and/or Pennsylvania.
