ActUp Theater is hiring a Set Painter to paint and decorate the props for our production, On this on Island. This role will play a central role in management and supporting the work of ActUp Theater. Duties will include painting various set designs and props for our upcoming production. We believe this candidate can meet the minimum requirements, and exceeds our preferred qualities for employment including, but not limited to, working independently on a large-scale project, and having competency in architecture, scale, and artistic technique.
Responsibilities
- Strong portfolio of previous work
- Strong research and interpretation skills
- Good knowledge of artistic principles, techniques, and translation styles
- Competency in architecture, scale, and vantage points
- Detailed knowledge of mediums for painting
- The ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative to execute painting of various props and set designs
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize a demanding schedule and a diverse portfolio of responsibilities
- Excellent analytical, organization, problem solving, and communication skills, both orally and creatively
- Strong interpersonal skills as well as a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with students, faculty members, parents, and administrators
- Sensitivity to the needs and concerns of participants from diverse backgrounds
- Experience with creating dynamic murals for all age groups
- Experience in the arts, both as a painter and/ or arts educator
- Demonstrated creative ability in large-scale painting
- Familiarity with student-initiated arts activities and programs
- Experience with and understanding of activities, programs, and productions of ActUp Theater
- Communicate with the team for all needs to accomplish the assigned task
- Attend all staff meetings
- Additional assignments at a supervisor's request
- Attend a Tech Week practice
- Promote the production on social media at least two (2) times
