Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Benefits Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in insurance verification, patient benefits coordination, medical billing, and accounts receivable management. Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) is a plus, but training will be provided. The Benefits Coordinator will be responsible for verifying patients’ insurance eligibility, managing billing for payment plans, processing credit card payments, and accurately posting payments to patient accounts.
Responsibilities
- Verify eligibility and benefits for patients' primary and secondary insurance.
- Manage patient billing, including payment plans and copay collections.
- Process credit card payments for copays, deductibles, and payment plans.
- Post payments and adjustments to patient accounts with accuracy.
- Follow up on claim status, re-billing, and appeals as needed.
- Ensure claims are processed and paid according to contractual agreements.
- Review fee schedules to verify correct reimbursement rates for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance.
- Review and process medical documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain familiarity with HCPCS, ICD-10, and Medicare guidelines to support proper billing and coding.
- Work closely with internal teams to resolve insurance and billing-related inquiries.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Associate’s degree required.
- Experience:
- 2 years of experience in medical billing, insurance verification, or benefits coordination.
- Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, HCPCS, and modifier coding.
- Experience with medical device reimbursement, DME billing, or insurance collections is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Proficiency with billing software and Microsoft Office.
