Job Summary
This is an IT support hardware/software technician role.
Job Functions
- Provides Tier 1 focused support with some Tier 2 desktop support for users.
- Performs IT service provisioning, including lifting, moving of equipment, and installation (i.e.
add/delete users, change of access, password resets, mailbox management, deployment of
workstation)
- Basic troubleshooting of various network issues.
- Work with other departments and vendors on IT related projects.
- Assists in the customization and adaptation of existing programs to meet users’ requirements.
- Will also need to cover help desk calls and monitor the ticketing system. Will be 24x7 on call
rotation with other staff usually for one week every six weeks.
- Assist staff in best practices of systems, with ongoing knowledge transfers as systems are
upgraded and new features are added.
- Coordinate with vendors and staff for implementation of systems, monitor contracts for
termination dates and review invoicing and revenue shares for compliance with contracts.
- Knowledge of newspaper software including editorial, ad design, pagination, accounting, rating
and archiving helpful.
Technology Skills:
- Two or four‐year degree in Computer Science/Information Technology preferred
- 1 – 3 years of proven working experience in the IT industry preferred.
- Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
- Problem solving and root‐cause determination skills
- Ability to work in a fast‐paced environment and manage numerous projects in a tim
sensitive manner.
- Working knowledge of Windows XP/7/8/10,11 Macintosh iOS, Android, Mozilla
Thunderbird, and Microsoft Office.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft server administration, including but not limited to: Active
Directory, File/Print, Windows 2003/2008/2012/2016/2022
- Must have a valid drivers’ license.
