Job Description
Adams Publishing Group is looking for a sports reporter for the Waunakee, WI location, covering mainly prep sports for the Waunakee and surrounding school districts. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable writing features on athletes, coaches, game reports, and taking photographs, with an occasional enterprise piece.
Responsibilities and Duties
Work collaboratively with other sports reporters and editors. Write features, previews, game stories and analysis for area sports and recreational teams.
Contribute to the newsrooms’ efforts to effectively cover and inform the community.
Qualifications and Skills
The successful applicant will have;
- Insatiable curiosity about all kinds of sports and recreation (not just prep athletics.)
- An excellent grasp of interviewing and writing techniques and a demonstrated knowledge of how multimedia enhances reporting.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and a team player mentality
- Four-year post-secondary degree in a related field or comparable practical experience in a work environment.
- Experience using social media
- Video skills are a significant plus, as is fluency in speaking Spanish.
