What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Manager position at Adams Thermal Systems?
We have an opportunity for a hands-on Facilities Manager to manage all facility related aspects of both facilities, to assist the Maintenance Manager, and drive safety management.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintenance and repairs to the facility. Manages contractors to perform all major facility maintenance and repairs.
- Responsible for obtaining competitive quotes for facilities work and driving cost reduction initiatives.
- Coordinates contractors in performing building site work. This includes, but is not limited to, glass cleaning, landscaping, snow removal, security system checks, and purchase of building site consumables.
- Responsible for writing out work orders when needed to delegate tasks to maintenance and the Facility Team.
- Assists the EHS manager with safety management. Implements solutions to safety problems in the building, under the direction of the Safety and Environmental Manager and Maintenance Manager.
- Troubleshoot and oversee solutions to problems relating to the facility and any of its components.
- Must exercise excellent safety management principals, using all personal protective equipment during tasks to avoid injury or accident. Includes lock out tag out, PPE, confined space entry, etc.
- Must manage by providing direction to other facilities staff.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills, Education and Experience:
- Must have minimum of 2 years supervisory experience.
- Must have an Associates degree in a technical field.
- Must have minimum of 5 years experience in an industrial manufacturing or laboratory environment with experience in the areas of facility maintenance, machine maintenance and repair, equipment installation, and/or general building repairs.
- Should have a basic understanding and/or familiarization with various departmental products, required materials, supplies, and tools.
- Should be familiar with all building trades to necessitate repairs or improvements to the facility including electricity, HVAC, plumbing, and carpentry.
- Proficiency with Microsoft office applications and good communication skills, a plus.
- Valid driver’s license. Certified forklift driver. Training can be provided.
- Must be able to drive tractors, skid steers and operate snow removal equipment. Training can be provided.
Physical Requirements:
- Position could involve standing on feet for 8 hours a day; working in extreme temperatures (i.e. 90 degrees); and, at times, lifting 50 to 70 pounds.
- Position requires a high level of energy and regular consistent attendance.
- Position could involve working indoors and outdoors with exposure to mechanical and/or moving parts, dust, dirt, odors, irritants, and high noise levels.
- Position could involve kneeling, lifting, crouching, bending, pulling, pushing, and twisting the upper body.
- Must be willing to do a wide range of tasks.
- Must have a good mechanical aptitude.
- Must have a positive, flexible, “can-do” attitude.
- Must be dedicated to service of internal customers.
