Position Summary:
The Assistant Counselor provides essential support in our outpatient programs, working closely with the treatment team to assist in the care and management of patients with substance use disorders. This role involves facilitating educational groups, coordinating patient progress with Primary Therapists, and ensuring compliance with state regulatory standards. The Assistant Counselor will also perform onsite drug screenings for patients as needed and complete any state-required training or certifications.
Entry Level Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must obtain CPRS (Certified Peer Recovery Specialist) within the first 6 months of employment, if required by the state.
- CPR certification required within the first 30 days of employment, if required by the state.
- Must complete CLIA waiver training as required by state regulations.
- Minimum of one year of experience in addiction treatment or a related field with direct patient contact preferred.
Essential Functions:
- Assist Primary Therapists in coordinating patient care and supporting treatment plan implementation.
- Facilitate educational groups on substance use education, recovery skills, and healthy living practices, ensuring alignment with state regulatory standards.
- Perform onsite drug screenings for patients as needed, maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Complete CLIA waiver training as required by state regulations.
- Support licensed staff with non-clinical aspects of patient assessments, including intake and intervention documentation.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions and educational sessions.
- Assist in maintaining a therapeutic environment, including managing patient behavior in common areas.
- Report any untoward events or safety concerns to the Clinical Manager promptly.
- Work cooperatively with co-workers, managers, clients, and prospective clients in a professional manner.
- Must work in a constant state of alertness for safe job performance.
- CPR certification required within the first 30 days of employment, as required by the state.
- Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Manager.
- Regular attendance is required.
