Job description

Residential Technician is responsible for the supervision of clients participating in the program’s social-model residential treatment setting as well as running groups. The Technician / Counselor helps to provide a safe, supportive, and caring environment to promote well-being, encouragement, safety, and encourages clients to continue their recovery program. This position is expected to cooperate as a team member with management and clinical staff. The Technician / Counselor has knowledge of and is culturally sensitive to clients and employees. This employee is knowledgeable of the treatment process along with the problems and issues presented by clients participating in treatment programs. The Technician / Counselor is responsible for providing a healthy, safe, comfortable, and clean residence for clients during their treatment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of community self-help support programs such as 12-Step AA/NA, Faith-Based, and other support groups.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Possess valid driver’s license if driving
  • Minimum Rad-T/RAC
  • RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The Client Advocate will be assigned projects based on his/her level of expertise that include any, or all of the following job responsibilities.
  • Uphold and enforce the agency’s standards, policies and procedures, code of conduct, and rights of persons served
  • Manage and supervise clients by enforcing program rules and guidelines
  • Conduct orientation to new residents, including reviewing safety drills and locations of fire extinguishers, emergency evacuation diagrams, exit routes, evacuation procedures, and first-aid kits
  • Communicate effectively and develop rapport with clients in a treatment setting
  • Conduct resident drug testing, which includes direct observation, reviewing and reporting onsite test results and/or urine collection procedures for laboratory analysis.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with clinical and administrative staff and supervisors
  • Weekly counseling groups
  • Conduct weekly client house meetings to discuss internal conflicts, review house rules, accept requests to see physician, review appointments for upcoming week
  • Responsible for client attendance of daily recovery activities as scheduled.
  • May provide suggestions to clients relating to personal experience, strength, and hope.
  • Refer client to his/her therapist/counselor for psychological/emotional issues.
  • Provide safe, supervised, client transportation to scheduled off-site activities (12-step meetings, outings, physician appointments, recreational and recovery-related activities, etc.)
  • Report all health and safety hazards, facility and/or vehicle maintenance/repair problems to the Safety Officer.
  • Transport clients to/from appointments, treatment center, 12-step meetings, and other related recovery activities, if needed.
  • Immediately document and report critical incidents, behavioral incidents and medication errors to Safety Officer and/or Program Director.
  • Document all instances of infectious diseases as described in infection prevention and control procedures located in Safety Binder.
  • Attend annual health and safety training and practice emergency drills based on outlined procedures.
  • Conduct emergency safety drills when announced by Safety Officer.
  • Participate in scheduled Human Resource standard training sessions.
  • Participate in meal planning and preparation with clients, and ensure each client is upholding their responsibilities to daily chores and housekeeping.
  • Additional duties may be required if deemed necessary by administration.

  • Experience working with Dual Diagnosis

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week

  • Weekends as needed
