The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description The Translator Spanish Language serves as a member of the facility’s multidisciplinary treatment team and works under the supervision of a qualified health professional. Incumbents will communicate ideas using proper syntax and grammar; accurately and precisely edit materials; analyze and research abstract pertinent material and may coordinate the translation of English/Spanish with other State and local agencies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: • Translate official, technical, medical and legal documents, certificates, letters and other written material, and audio recordings from Spanish to English and/or Spanish to English.• Translate, edit, and proofread rules, regulations and policy brochures for use by patients, family and employees.• Translate correspondence, letters, notes and conversations between patients, their families and health care providers. • Translate research documents, including surveys, questionnaires, interviews and patient and employee satisfaction surveys.• May use translation skills to assist people filling out applications, forms and other documents. • May interpret for clinical staff conducting clinical evaluations to assist them in reaching diagnoses, treatment plans and medication interventions. • May interpret details of patient treatment, clinical staff instructions for treatment planning, medication administration, education and discharge planning to patients, families and caregivers. This may include translating and interpreting complex and confidential medical and mental health information.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Spanish; or a bachelor’s degree in any field supplemented by 12 credit hours in Spanish and one year of full-time experience translating Spanish to English and from English to Spanish. Candidates must be fluent in reading, writing and speaking Spanish; a language proficiency test will be administered.
