Instructional Specialist

Addison Central School District is seeking to build a team of full time Instructional Specialists for the 2025-2026 year for anticipated vacancies.
The Instructional Specialist is responsible for supporting and enhancing the quality of rigorous math and/or literacy instruction across classrooms in accordance with ACSD’s curricular commitments. The Instructional Specialist provides leadership, partnership, and guidance to school systems and colleagues through co-planning and co-teaching. This position focuses on improving curricular implementation, elevating high-leverage teaching practices, and amplifying effective instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of all students.In addition to providing direct instruction to students in the classroom, the Instructional Specialist works collaboratively with teachers, administrators, curriculum coordinators, and other educational staff to promote academic excellence, improve student outcomes, and foster a culture of reflection, inquiry and continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities:
-Lesson Development and Implementation: Through co-planning, assist in the design and implementation of grade level learning experiences for students that are aligned with ACSD’s curriculum and state standards. Ensure that curriculum materials are effective, relevant, and engaging.
-Teaching: Alongside classroom teachers, provide direct instruction in math and/or literacy, implementing and modeling the above mentioned lessons and instructional practices.
-Teacher Support and Collaboration: Provide ongoing support and collaboration to teachers to connect instructional practices with innovative and evidence-based strategies.
Professional Development:
-Plan, organize, and lead professional development sessions that address teachers’ needs, emerging instructional trends, and high-impact instructional practices. Ensure that teachers have the tools and strategies needed to implement the principles of Universal Design for Learning.
Assessment Implementation
-Assist teachers in the effective use of formative and summative classroom assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
-Leadership: Act as a leader in fostering a culture of high expectations and academic rigor. Encourage the adoption of innovative instructional practices and technology to enhance learning outcomes.
Resource Management:
-Provide recommendations on instructional materials, technology tools, and other resources that support effective teaching and learning.
-Parent and Community Engagement: Engage families and communities in the learning process. Collaborate with teachers to involve families as important partners.
Qualifications and Education:
-Valid teaching license in area of application is required.
-Bachelor’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field is required.
-Master’s degree or advanced certification in education or a specialized area (e.g. Curriculum and Instruction, math and/or literacy instruction) is preferred.
Experience:
-Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in a heterogenous classroom in grade span for which the candidate is applying (e.g. elementary, middle, high) is required. Experience teaching in a multi-grade classroom is preferred
-Proven track record of effective instructional practices and student growth in math and/or literacy is required
-Expertise with Universal Design for Learning is preferable
Skills:
-Nuanced ability to integrate grade-level, proficiency-based curriculum within an inquiry-based framework
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and foster collaboration
-Proficiency in using formative and summative classroom data to inform instructional decisions
-Familiarity with educational technology and how it can enhance teaching and learning
-Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
