What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Accountant position at Addison Group?
As a key member of the office management team, the Project Accountant will collaborate closely with Project Managers and office leadership to provide financial insights that drive business success. You'll work alongside the corporate accounting team, using your expertise to transform complex numbers into clear, actionable information. Your role is crucial in ensuring the smooth financial operation of projects, and you'll be relied upon to solve problems creatively and support decision-making with precision.
Office Location: Washington, DC
Office Schedule: In office 3 days per week, WFH 2 days
Type: Contract to hire, 90 days before conversion
Compensation: $36-$41/hr, upon conversion between $77,000- $95,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with Project Managers and leadership to monitor project financial health, reviewing work plans, budgets, and staffing for proper fee alignment. Deliver financial training as needed.
- Handle a range of accounting duties, including time and expense reporting, invoicing, collections, accounts receivable and payable, journal entries, and more.
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis, preparing monthly reports and metrics, budget vs. variance analysis, and providing insights to support executive decision-making.
- Contribute to the development of the annual operations plan, ensuring all financial projections are accurate and aligned with business goals.
- Manage the filing of local business licenses, sales & use tax returns, and occupancy tax returns as required by the office.
- Support firmwide reporting requirements and coordinate with other offices on cross-office projects.

- Adapt to new challenges with a hands-on, flexible approach.
- This position has a heavy emphasis on billing/collections of clients for projects being worked on
What We’re Looking For:
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 1-5 years of experience in a similar role.
- A methodical, analytical, and organized mindset when tackling financial tasks.
- Familiarity with Deltek Vision, Vantagepoint, and/or Esker software is a bonus.
- Strong communication skills and a desire to collaborate with colleagues across all levels.
Keys to hire:
- 4 years of experience in a Project Accounting role for a professional services company
- Recent experience with Deltek Vision. (A bonus if you have Deltek Vantage experience)
