What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Accountant position at Beacon Hill?
Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with locally based commercial client in the search for a Project Accountant to join their growing team. This role will report directly to the Controller and will be the point person for all job costing accounting functions. Candidates should have a strong background in both job costing and in processing reconciliations to assist in the month-end closing process. This is a fully onsite role that will require candidates to be in-office 5 days per week in their Bethesda based headquarters. Essential Job Duties
Monitor project budgets, track actual costs, and report on variances to project stakeholders.
Perform detailed job costing analysis to ensure accurate allocation of labor, materials, and overhead to projects.
Collaborate with project managers to review budgets, forecasts, and project performance.
Prepare and process project-related invoices in a timely manner; ensure accuracy and alignment with contract terms.
Maintain accurate financial records for each project, including change orders, subconsultant invoices, and reimbursable expenses.
Reconcile project costs and assist in the month-end close process.
Assist with the preparation of financial reports and dashboards for internal and external use.
Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, client requirements, and applicable regulations.
Support audits and respond to inquiries related to project accounting.
Provide recommendations for process improvements and financial controls related to project accounting.
