Job Summary:
Our large, growing distribution client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join the dynamic accounting team. This role will be responsible for a range of accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate will have experience working with high-volume data in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment and possess strong analytical and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily and monthly bank and cash reconciliations, including petty cash and intercompany transactions
- Prepare and post journal entries for general ledger accounts, including prepaids, fixed assets, accruals, and other assigned areas
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly and investigate variances
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable and other departments to ensure accurate GL coding and transaction alignment
- Conduct account balance fluctuation analysis and investigate deviations from budget or expectations
- Maintain outstanding checks lists and assist in managing high-volume financial data
- Assist with audit requests and internal/external reporting
- Utilize accounting systems and tools to streamline processes and ensure data integrity
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- 2 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a large company environment (e.g., $800M in revenue) required
- Strong general ledger and reconciliation experience
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze and manage large data sets effectively
- Experience with accounting tools such as Blackline, SAGE, SAP, or Concur preferred
Salary & Benefits:
- The salary range for this position is between $70,000 - $80,000 annually depending upon relevant experience
