SUMMARY:
Reporting to Consumer Lending Management, the Consumer Loan Processor performs a variety of loan processing tasks related to our portfolio of consumer loans.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Occasionally interviews applicant to obtain personal and financial data.
- Responsible for contacting members by telephone or computer to verify credit bureaus, employers, and personal references as needed.
- Prepare direct loan documents, process indirect loan packets, validate loan documents are properly prepared and executed by the borrower and third-party partners such as dealerships. Communicate with third-party partners to correct document errors when applicable.
- Follow up on requests with a focus on aging loans from branches and dealers to retrieve copies of missing documentation.
- May fund consumer loans.
- Responsible for calculating various types of income on loans.
- Provides assistance in filing, inputting data to computer, recording information as required, answering telephones, photocopy, faxing, and general office duties.
- Assists department staff in efficiently and effectively processing the various activities involved in credit granting.
- Demonstrate written and spoken communication skills that reflect AFCU’s core values with members and team members on all levels.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1 year or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires a strong attention to detail. It consists of data entry along with quality control validation of loan documents.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees and members of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Must have ability to multi-task and be organized to ensure proper follow up occurs on all outstanding requests for corrections.
- Understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
This is a full-time role working with hours of 9am – 6pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Thursday the hours are 8:30am – 5:30pm. This position also has the potential of occasional Saturday rotation.
