Job Summary:
We are seeking a Cancer Registrar to join our Medical Oncology team. The Cancer Registrar is responsible for coordinating registry operations and supporting cancer program activities. This includes following ACOS Standards for accessing, abstracting, and following up with cancer patients. The Cancer Registrar will work closely with physicians, nurses, and managers to ensure that the cancer program maintains accreditation with the American College of Surgeons. This role will require attending monthly Cancer Conferences and quarterly Cancer Committee meetings. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Duties:
- Registry Operations: Ensure all cancer patient documentation is completed accurately and timely.
- ACOS Standards Compliance: Coordinate all cancer registry operations and program activities in alignment with American College of Surgeons Standards.
- Data Reporting: Provide accurate and timely reports to the Cancer Committee.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams (Medical Records, Cancer Committee, Pathology, Cancer Center, etc.) to ensure effective cancer registry operations.
- Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to staff in assigned work units, ensuring effective coordination of cancer program operations.
- Cancer Conference Participation: Develop and attend monthly Cancer Conference meetings and quarterly Cancer Committee meetings to discuss cancer program activities and improvements.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Education: Associate degree in medical technician, medical field, or related discipline, or equivalent knowledge in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and statistical analysis.
- Certification: National Registrars Association certification (Required). Certified Oncology Data Specialist (CODS) required.
- Preferred Membership: Member of the National Cancer Registrars Association (preferred).
