Job Description
We are seeking a Logistics Technician in Charleston, SC to support the logistics, procurement, and inventory management activities in support of ex-USN, ex-USCG, and United States supplied systems to multiple countries as part of the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program. This is a short term, contract-only position. The work location will be at the Navy Yard in Charleston, SC. You are well-organized, detail-oriented, and appreciate a range of warehousing tasks. You are responsible for executing all logistics and supply chain activities necessary to successfully support this project, including but not limited to receipt, inventory, retention, disposition, and preparation for shipping of previously used shipboard material. You’ll do all this using your excellent communication and customer service support skills. Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive warehouse and inventory support for all warehouse operations and shipping support performed under the contract to accomplish material and system readiness. At a minimum, this will include the following Integrated Product Support elements: Inventory Planning and Management, Supply Support, Packaging, Handling, Storage & Transportation (PHS&T), and OCONUS Shipping Support. Maintain itemized lists of required parts and materials for existing material and incoming inventory. Coordinate with contract personnel, logistics managers, project personnel to report status of logistics, maintenance, facilities, and/or operational solutions to specific issues encountered. Support warehouse operations to ensure that Government owned property and material are received, stored and shipped safely and efficiently. Input, track, review, and report status of Government/Contractor Furnished Equipment (GFE/CFE), material, and equipment configuration data. POC for Disposition and Lateral Transfers for in/out of service transfers for accountable property. Research supply chain issues to identify potential problems and preemptively address them.
Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma/GED At least 1 year of related warehouse/inventory experience Working knowledge of the governing supply systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines, and an understanding of the needs of the organization serviced Analytical ability to define or recognize the dimension of the problems involved, to collect the necessary data to establish the facts, and take or recommend action based upon application or interpretation of established guidelines Ability to work independently and in a team environment Must be able and willing to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting materials weighing up to 50 lbs., as well as work in a warehouse environment in adverse temperatures Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications: Active Department of Transportation (DOT) HazMat Certification Current Forklift License Knowledge of Maximo and Deltek CostPoint database Associates degree or higher Experience with international logistics support activities, including shipping and compliance with customs regulations Ability to implement new processes to increase efficiency related to inventory count, organization, and setup Working knowledge of inventory control principles and warehouse processes Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
