Job Description:
A Viral Research Scientist 1 to join their team in the RES Viral Disease ATH department. This position is a replacement role and will involve supporting the viral research team in executing various viral propagation and analytical experiments. The position may have the potential to be converted into a full-time role in the future, although that is uncertain at this time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform basic cell culture techniques for isolation of primary cells and passage of cell lines.
- Assist in the execution of viral propagation and analytical proof of concept (POC) experiments.
- Conduct in vitro analytical assays to evaluate and qualify viral stocks with minimal supervision.
- Record and report all research data accurately and in compliance with laboratory standards.
- Document research results in laboratory notebooks, generating reports, SOPs, and research protocols.
- Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and materials.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety and regulatory standards.
- Maintain positive relationships with team members across viral research, development, analytical, clinical, industrial operations, regulatory affairs, and quality control.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 0-3 years of relevant experience in a laboratory or scientific research setting.
- Experience with cell culture of primary avian cells and continuous cell lines is preferred.
- Knowledge of in vitro assays, including viral titration, PCR, ELISA, and virus neutralization.
- Familiarity with the safe handling of BSL2 organisms is preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive and resourceful in problem-solving and completing tasks.
- Ability to learn new technologies and assays quickly.
- Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and comfort interacting with various levels of the organization.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Job Type: Contract
Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
