Payroll Assistant

Position Summary: Our company is seeking a temporary part time Payroll Assistant for approximately 20-25 hours per week to assist with our payroll operations. This is primarily a data entry position. This position requires strict attention to detail with a high degree of confidentiality. All confidential and sensitive data must be secured at all times.

Job Duties And Responsibilities Include

• Gathering and examining of timesheets to ensure validity
• Ensure that timesheets follow corporate policies
• Basic understanding of debits and credits; data entry into applicable accounting software
• Reviewing employee data and identifying payment types: hourly vs salary
• Administrative tasks including completion of unemployment claims, filing, data entry in Paylocity or other applicable software programs
• Run and format payroll reports from internal timekeeping database
• Backup assistance with follow up items that come into payroll or HR shared email inbox
• Assist in the preparation of data as needed by team members
• May provide backup for other payroll team members during time off as needed
• Complete all required compliance training
• Perform other duties as assigned
  
  

Requirements And Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Experience working in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and similar types of programs
• Applicable majors and/or coursework include: Accounting, Math, Finance, Business or similar
• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or similar field helpful but not required
• Ability to effectively multi-task and remain calm under pressure while ensuring tight deadlines are met; ability to resolve problems as they occur
• Discretion – protect and maintain all sensitive data and adhere to all privacy protocols
• Excellent attention to detail
• Time management and strong organizational skills
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
