What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Assistant, Institute on Public Safety and Social Justice position at Adler University?
The Research Assistant will work closely with the program and data staff. This includes researching, preparing reports, and collecting data. The RA will contribute to various aspects of research including data collection, analysis, literature reviews and dissemination of findings. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop research skills, gain hands on experience, and contribute to scholarly work in a collaborative academic environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Institutional Review Board standards, compliance requirements, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders.
There are four research assistant positions available.

Work Environment (Physical Demands): The usual and customary methods of performing the job functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Ethnic Studies, Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Work, Criminology, Psychology, Anthropology, Political Science) or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience not required
- Strong understanding of State and Federal grant regulations and compliance requirements preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clear, concise reports or proposals.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis techniques.
- Ability to consistently identify opportunities for improvement and make recommendations based on observations.

- Assist with data collection through surveys, fieldwork, or other appropriate research methods.
- Assist in the development of research protocols, workshops and training.

- Assist in the development of assessment, auditing and evaluation tools.
- Compile and track data for progress reports and presentations.
- Use statistical or qualitative analysis software to analyze and interpret research data.
- Travel to field sites to collect and record data.
- Maintain and update records of data, ensuring data integrity and hygiene.
- Prepare, write, and submit grant proposals, ensuring all required documentation and information is included.
- Summarize and synthesize scholarly articles to support development of research proposals, reports and publications.
- Comply with all grant regulations and requirements.
- Work closely with program staff to gather necessary information for proposals and reports.
- Track and report on the progress and outcomes programs, providing regular updates to senior staff.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
