What are the responsibilities and job description for the Co-Facilitator of Youth Advisory Board, Institute on Public Safety and Social Justice position at Adler University?
The Co-Facilitator will support the planning, coordination, and facilitation of the Youth Advisory Board (YAB). This role will focus on meeting preparation, youth engagement, and logistical coordination to ensure a meaningful and well-organized experience for participants. The Co-Facilitator will work closely with the Community Restorative Justice Manager and the Illinois Juvenile Justice Commission’s Youth Advisory Board.
Education/Experience:
Work Environment (Physical Demands): The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Education/Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in youth leadership, community organizing, facilitation, or advocacy preferred.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices, youth engagement strategies, or restorative justice approaches is a plus.
- Experience supporting youth-led initiatives and fostering youth leadership development.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and facilitate discussions with young people and stakeholders.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to support meeting preparation, coordination, and follow-up.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with youth, colleagues, and external partners in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to consistently identify opportunities for improvement and make recommendations based on observations
- Strong demonstration of alignment with Adler’s social justice mission and vision

- Assist in planning and facilitating twice-monthly virtual YAB meetings, ensuring engaging discussions and activities.
- Collaborate with the YAB Engagement Team to develop meeting agendas, training content, and materials.
- Help coordinate logistics for meetings and info-sessions, including scheduling, reminders, and materials distribution.
- Support the recruitment of system-involved youth and assist in hosting virtual information sessions.
- Maintain regular communication with YAB members and external partners, including the Juvenile Justice Commission.
- Assist in coordinating youth engagement with the Illinois Juvenile Justice Commission Chairs (Youth Engagement, Compliance, Racial and Ethnic Disparities, Planning & Grants).
- Participate in monthly meetings with the Illinois Collaboration on Youth to ensure alignment with YAB objectives.
- Assist in tracking grant deliverables, gathering necessary data, and providing logistical support for grant reporting.
- Help develop and implement the 12-month learning community curriculum, ensuring sessions align with YAB goals.
- Provide general administrative and troubleshooting support to identify resource gaps and assist in budget planning.
