Employment Terms: This job is a full time, benefited, FLSA non-exempt position in the Admissions Department that reports to the Director of Admissions.

 

Salary:  $45,760 per year.

 

Schedule: Availability to work Monday through Thursday between 8 am and 6:30 pm and on Friday between 8 am and 4 pm.  Occasional Saturdays and some evenings.  Schedule is subject to change.  Flexibility is a must.

 

Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 11127): Associate’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education *and* three (3) years of directly related work experience.


Preferred Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education and three (3) years of work experience in a postsecondary Admissions or Registrar Office environment.  Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; ability to analyze data and make decisions. Must possess ability to multi-task in a fast-paced office environment, problem solve, and maintain effective relationships within a team environment; proficiency in Staff BANNER, Target X, BDMS, Axiom and Microsoft Office applications.

 

Successful candidates should possess: (1) strong knowledge of the admissions process and student services; (2) ability to investigate, analyze, and interpret data for accuracy and completeness in order to make sound Admissions and residency judgments; (3) exceptional customer service skills; (4) outstanding computer skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy; (5) ability to calmly analyze and resolve student and/or staff related admissions issues; (6) able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines; (7) ability to accurately document and maintain student records; (8) ability to collaborate in a team environment.

 

Job Description Summary:
The Student Affairs Assistant is a non-student facing position, which, under general supervision of the Director of Admissions (1) receives and processes admissions applications and related documents; (2) enters student data and scans and indexes admissions documents into the BANNER student information system; (3)
 determines applicant eligibility for admission and renders admission and residency decisions in accordance with policy; (4) ensures accuracy of data entry and maintains integrity of student records; (5) maintains knowledge of and adherence to GTC Student Affairs policies and standards in accordance with TCSG mandates; (6) contributes to the ongoing improvement of work processes, including learning and integrating new technology; focusing attention and efforts on detailed analysis, accuracy, and speed; and promoting a teamwork environment.  (7) provides support for email, phone, and texting prospective students as needed; (8) assists with admissions-related trainings, orientations, reports, document review and maintenance, and special events as required.

3.    Provides accurate admissions information and documents for students and staff in-person, email, phone, text messaging, etc. (Performed by all incumbents)

4.     Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending professional development training, workshops, seminars and conferences and by reading professional literature in the related technical field. (Performed by all incumbents.)

5.    Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; provides a high level of customer service; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior.

6.  Performs other duties as assigned in the fulfillment of the needs, philosophy, and purpose of Gwinnett Technical College.
