Title: Adoption Specialist
Education Needed: Recommended Bachelor or Master Degree in Social Services or a related field plus experience, prefer at least two (2) years social service experience. Experience in related field may be considered towards degree requirement.

Will Report to: Birth Parent Supervisor
Duties: Major responsibilities to work with birthparents planning an adoption plan. Include but not limited to:
1. Intake birth parent calls
2. Set appointment and meet with birth parent in their preferred location, within 48 hours from initial contact
3. Educate birth parent about the adoption process (how it works for her, the adoptive parents and the child)
4. Inform birth parent of legal rights
5. Discuss community resources and options available to them in addition to adoption
6. Discuss Florida Reunion Registry
7. Assist birth parent in accessing medical care (choose doctor, set appointments, etc.)
8. Assist birth parent with transportation
9. Assist with establishing and obtaining public assistance
10. Facilitate financial planning with birth parent with assistance of direct supervisor
11. Facilitate presentation of potential adoptive parent’s profiles
12. Support birth parent in her adoption plan throughout pregnancy
13. Coordinate and facilitate birthparent/ potential adoptive parents meeting
14. Coordinate and prepare consent signing, witnesses, and notary
15. Coordinate placement of child with family chosen by birth parent
16. Coordinate discharge of baby and birth parent and Interim Care when needed
17. Responsible for grief and post adoption counseling
18. Participate in quarterly quality control meetings and activities as designated by supervisor
19. Weekly status update meeting with supervisor
20. Required to complete trainings related to job duties
21. Enter all appointments on Master Calendar
22. Set up exchange agreement files
23. Request Medical records during pregnancy and post birth
24. Update Prospective Adoptive Parents on birth parent progress
25. Prepare Affidavit of Non-Paternity, diligent search, or Notice of Intended Adoption Plan, which ever applies to birth father
26. Maintain all birth parent files including keeping case notes up to date, closure of files, review of files for licensing audit
27. This position requires you to be on call evenings and weekends every 4-5 weeks
28. This position requires travel within the state of Florida- company car available most often
29. This position requires occasional work on nights and weekends
30. Complete all other duties as assigned by supervisor
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
