We are a local, private adoption agency in Madison, Wisconsin and are seeking a social worker to join our collaborative group. We believe families come in many different forms and our goal is to support, talk and listen to birth parents and adoptive families to ensure the healthiest future for all. We can be very flexible with our employees and can accommodate full-time, part-time, and hybrid work. We work as a team to support each other.
Responsibilities include:
- Meet with clients (prospective adoptive parents and birth parents)
- Provide adoption-related counseling
- Conduct home studies
- Conduct stepparent and relative adoption screening studies
- Provide post-placement supervision by visiting with families with whom children have been placed
- Provide support to parents throughout their adoption journeys
- Remain knowledgeable about Department of Child and Family requirements concerning adoption and incorporate new requirements into practice
- Review casework of other social workers
- Facilitate applications for the Adoption Assistance Program
- Facilitate training and support groups for adoptive parents
- Provide appropriate service referrals when needed
- Maintain up to date case notes and files
- Write court reports
- Attend court hearings
- Coordinate and facilitate pre-adoptive training requirements with adoptive parents
- Respond to inquiries and calls from clients and other professionals
Requirements:
Bachelor's or master's degree of social work (MSW)
Excellent communications skills, both written and oral, high level of organization and planning skills, and experience working with families. Bonus if you have prior experience in the field of adoption.
