About Adult & Teen Challenge Pacific Northwest, Life Renewal Program:
Adult & Teen Challenge / Life Renewal is a faith based non-profit looking to put Hope within Reach of ALL Addicts. We have an opening at the SUD Facility in Pasco, Washington and are in search of an energetic and self-directed individual to fill the counseling position for our intensive outpatient substance use disorder treatment facility. Applicant must be certified as a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP). Must be familiar with WAC, Joint Commission, Medicaid regulations, ASAM, DSM-V and AA 12 step program.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Treatment Services
1. Upon service initiation, ensure that each client has an initial service plan which addresses the client's immediate health, safety, and preliminary service needs.
2. Complete a comprehensive assessment and an assessment summary of the client's chemical use problems within three calendar days after service initiation. The assessment summary must be formatted utilizing the ASAM criteria.
3. Provide an Individual Treatment Plan after completion of the comprehensive assessment which is subject to amendment until services to the client are terminated. The individual treatment plan must include treatment goals, specific methods to be used to address identified problems, resources to which the client is being referred, and client goals.
4. Enter progress notes in each client's file weekly or after each treatment service. The progress notes must reference the individual treatment plan.
5. Complete a discharge summary within five days of the client's termination of services.
6. Ensure the content and format of client records be uniform and entries in each case are signed and dated.
7. Provide individual and group counseling, client education strategies to avoid inappropriate chemical use and health problems related to chemical use, transition services, and services to address issues related to co-occurring mental illness.
8. Leading SUD Education classes as required.
9. Participate in the weekly treatment team meetings to review and update client progress.
10. Initiate and maintain ongoing communication/coordination of care with client referral, probation, social service agencies, etc.
11. Complete managed care needs with client’s insurer as needed.
Supervision Received:
The Substance Use Disorder Professional Counselor works under the direct supervision of the Clinical Supervisor who determines goals, assigns work and reviews performance for overall effectiveness through reports, observation and conferences. Employee shall exercise a high degree of independent decision and judgment in relation to scope of duties and responsibilities.
Recruiting Requirements - Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
Demonstrate competency in treatment of substance-use disorders including individual assessment and individual counseling, group, family and other counseling techniques, program policies and procedures for service delivery and documentation, and identification, implementation and coordination of services identified to facilitate intended outcomes; and be certified or licensed by a health or allied provider agency, as defined in OAR 309-019-0130, to provide addiction treatment within two years of the first hire date and must make application for certification no later than six months following that date.
Experience and Training: For treatment staff holding certification in addiction counseling, qualifications for the certificate must have included at least:
A. 750 hours of supervised experience in substance use counseling;
B. 150 contact hours of education and training in substance use related subjects; and
C. Successful completion of a written objective examination or portfolio review by the certifying body.
Special Requirements:
1. Possession of, or ability to obtain within 30 days, a valid driver`s license in State of domicile.
2. Must be able to attest to the fact they have been free from chemical use problems for at least two years immediately preceding the date of hire. Chemical use problems are defined as:
a. Receiving treatment for chemical use
b. Chemical use that has had a negative impact on one’s job performance.
c. Chemical use that had adversely affected the credibility of treatment services the individual was providing.
d. Displaying any symptoms of intoxication or withdrawal on the job.
e. Criminal convictions (including driving violations) involving chemical use.
3. Must have or obtain 12 hours of training in co-occurring mental health problems training within six months of hire
4. Ability to work within the Life Renewal Mission: To assist teens and adults in gaining freedom from chemical addiction by applying Biblical principles in establishing a chemical-free lifestyle, enhancing social skills, improving work habits, building supportive relationships, and growing in personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Pay: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour
