The QC Coordinator reviews all project deliverables from internal and external post production teams before publishing and archive. This role is indescribably meticulous in their work and is a strong communicator, interacting with a myriad of team members and departments during the final phases of a project. As the last line of defense before publishing, QC Coordinators play a critical role in ensuring that video content looks and sounds its best, airs without errors, and adheres to strict standards for various types of deliverable assets. The QC Coordinator reports to the Supervisor, QC, and works closely with video editors, Post Production Supervisors, Supervising Editors, Scheduling, Video Operations, and the Media Asset Management team. This role may occasionally require extended hours and weekend work in order to get the job done.
Primary Responsibilities:
Review in-progress edits and all project deliverables (video, audio, images, documentation) for quality and adherence to required technical specifications; catch spelling errors, improper framing, glitches, illegal color and audio levels, off-brand/off-series errors, and more before publish and archive
Relay QC notes to editors and ensure all applicable assets are redelivered as needed in a timely manner
Log QC notes, review and update project metadata, and update QC statuses in various Post Production tools
Manage a steady queue of deliverables across several projects and brands with competing priorities and shifting air dates, pivoting when necessary and communicating deliveries and delays to Scheduling and Publishing teams
Stay on the pulse of updated style guides and series tags, ensuring newly published content keeps up to date with brand/series refreshes.
Help enforce standards, policies, and procedures for asset delivery and archiving
Collaborate with Media Management teams to ensure correct metadata tagging and archiving of media
Assist with media requests such as pulling archived episodes, transcoding videos for external delivery partners, etc.
When possible, preview content ahead of initial delivery and QC review; provide quality-control feedback to editors, audio mixers, and colorists during a project, and provide feedback to associated team members
Liaise with various teams for inbound and outbound delivery requests, technical-related inquiries involving delivery specs, transfer credentials, and sending requests (via SFTP, Signiant, MAM/DAM, Hightail, etc.)
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
Experience in a post-production environment, with skills revolving around asset management and delivery
Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro is required
Excel in meticulous attention to detail, with experience in a wide array of video formats, quality control, archiving, and light-touch editing
Proficient knowledge of the main broadcast and digital video and audio formats
Deep understanding of media codecs, bit rates, aspect ratios, color spaces, and compression
Effective organizer with proven ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
Calm and deliberate demeanor with excellent communication skills in a highly dynamic, fast-paced environment; a team player with patience and empathy
Proactive and strong ability to problem solve and work through issues
Produce under the pressure of deadlines
Communicate well and be flexible with other departments
Someone who relishes noticing errors in media and day-to-day life, and won’t get bored or lose focus when reviewing multiple iterations or deliverables of the same piece of content
