Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead our procurement team and streamline purchasing processes. This role is responsible for managing vendor relationships, optimizing inventory levels, reducing costs, and ensuring the timely acquisition of high-quality goods and services. The Purchasing Manager will also manage a team of buyers, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance oversight. The ideal candidate has strong analytical and negotiation skills, with a track record of driving procurement efficiencies and maintaining accurate records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of buyers, ensuring alignment with procurement goals and business objectives.
- Procurement Management: Oversee the end-to-end purchasing process, including identifying and evaluating suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services.
- Vendor & Supplier Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate favorable terms, and regularly evaluate vendor performance to ensure quality and reliability.
- Inventory Optimization: Collaborate with the inventory team to maintain optimal inventory levels, ensuring proper stock levels to support business demand without overstocking.
- Cost Control & Savings: Identify and implement strategies to reduce procurement costs, improve efficiency, and ensure competitive pricing.
- Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve purchasing processes and workflows to increase efficiency and support company goals.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and relevant regulations. Manage risks related to supply and pricing, and support sourcing decisions with robust market analysis.
- Reporting & Analysis: Generate and analyze reports to monitor key performance indicators, track purchasing trends, and support strategic planning and budgeting efforts.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with finance, operations, production, and other departments to align purchasing strategies with business goals and support cross-functional projects.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 5 years in purchasing or procurement management, with experience managing a team and a solid understanding of purchasing processes and best practices.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in procurement software and tools. Advanced knowledge of Excel and data analysis tools.
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading and developing a team, with strong communication and decision-making skills.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to analyze purchasing data, forecast demand, and optimize supply chain processes.
- Negotiation & Vendor Management: Excellent negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships.
- Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy in managing purchase orders, vendor information, and product specifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in government manufacturing or regulated industries with knowledge of government procurement standards and compliance.
- Proficiency in NetSuite ERP, especially in procurement and inventory management modules.
