Essential Piece
This position helps achieve that goal by assisting students with developmental disabilities who are transitioning into adulthood. This position works within our Young Adult Transitions department to ensure each new student has the resources and opportunities needed to work on goals and growth in the areas of: employment, self advocacy, social skills and independent living skills.
Purpose
The purpose of this position is to assist with all things that are important to helping achieve success for those transitioning students. This position will assist students with curriculum in areas of: independent living skills, job exploration counseling, work-based learning experiences, workplace readiness training and instruction in self advocacy.
Position Requirements
This position requires an applicant to have: a completed HS Diploma or GED, Valid driver’s license and be capable of being covered under agency driver insurance. All applicants Must pass pre-employment drug screen & background check.
Training Requirements
All training will be provided by Advance and will be paid on-the job training. This includes: New Employee Orientation, Medication Administration Class, Online Classes, and a variety of location-specific training.
Position Job Duties
1. Assist with personal hygiene.
2. Use problem-solving skills to ensure safety for each individual supported.
3. Follow dietary guidelines and support as needed with cooking, buying groceries, cleaning, organization and healthy choices.
4. Document supports offered as needed by completing reports, forms and records. 5. Maintain confidentiality of all individuals supported.
6. Adhere to professional standards and Advance policies and procedures.
7. Assist individuals in community involvement; driving to events, social support, budgeting assistance, problem-solving,
8. Administer and inventory medications.
9. Teach assigned curriculum and work with the YAT Coordinator on developing new curriculum. 10.Assist with job exploration and career development skills and training.
