About the role and about you:

This position is for Pilot in Command (PIC) of a turbo-jet Dornier 328J and requires a strong ability to multi-task, making high level complex decisions while completing a variety of aviation related tasks. The flying for this position will support for Taos Ski resort and on-demand charter.

Main Objective is to provide Taos travelers a world class experience in a fleet of Dornier 328Jets. While holding up to the standards of Advanced Air, LLC flight operations, interacting with all charter customers, aircraft owners, and Taos travelers.

You are excited about aviation, looking to grow, and have all of the required flight minimums and certifications and live within two hours of your base airport. You are also willing to make a one-year commitment to Advanced Air, LLC, with the option to upgrade into other aircrafts, as long as total flight time meets FAA requirements along with satisfactory evaluations from PIC’s.

  • Retains the final authority for the safe operation of the aircraft (FAR 91.3)
  • Ensures that the assigned aircraft is airworthy by completing a preflight inspection per the AFM and verifying that all required documents are on board the aircraft
  • Obtains a briefing from an approved source on the purpose of the flight, weather, operating procedures, notams and any special instructions plans and flight assignments
  • Maintains responsibility for the security of the aircraft during its operation.
  • Must comply with all Federal Aviation Regulations, Operations Specifications, Standard Operating Procedures, and Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Update flight and duty records, determine eligibility for the next flight assignment and ensure any aircraft maintenance discrepancies are reported and in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures. .
  • INITIAL NEW-HIRE Consists of all ground training curriculum segments in their entirety, with the aircraft ground being specific to the type(s) of aircraft in which the airman is to qualify. The flight training will cover all required events and maneuvers with none being waived by the qualified flight instructor. Crewmember Training will be recorded on AA Training Form 301.
  • Update flight and duty records, determine eligibility for the next flight assignment and ensure any aircraft maintenance discrepancies are reported to the Captain and reported in accordance with operating policy and procedure
  • Participate proactively in safety and quality systems by identifying, reporting and mitigating hazards and quality issues; providing timely input to management; and applying systems processes to address quality and safety issues.
  • Overseas the loading and unloading of passengers, baggage and luggage

What we are looking for:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be highly knowledgeable of the General Operations manual, FAA Regulations, Operations Specifications, Flight Manuals, Standard Operating Procedures, Policies and Procedures, and other pertinent information relating to this duty.
  • Flight crews are to be in accordance with CFR 14 Part 135 regulations, the company specific Operations Specifications issued by the Certificate Holding District Office (CHDO) and the company General Operations Manual.
  • Must be able to complete training program, demonstrating proficiency with flight training and customer service.
  • 2000 hours total time, 500 PIC, 500 hrs PIC Turbine, 200 hours multi-engine fixed wing,
  • 500 hours of cross-country flight time; 200 hours night time, 75 hours instrumental flight time of which 50 hrs were in the actual flight.
  • FCC Restricted Radio Operator’s Permit
  • Must have successfully passed an oral/written examination administered by an FAA approved Advanced Air, LLC Check Airman, or a representative of the Administrator within the preceding 12 calendar months required by FAR 135.293 (a).
  • Must have successfully completed a competency check administered in the type of airplane within the preceding 12 calendar months conducted by a FAA approved Advanced Air, LLC Check Airman or an FAA inspector, as required by FAR 135.293 (b).
  • Must have completed the 6-month IFR proficiency check given by an FAA inspector or a FAA approved Advanced Air, LLC Check Airman (FAR 135.297).
  • Must have demonstrated enroute, arrival and departure procedures by completing an enroute check (FAR 135.299) with an FAA inspector or a FAA approved Advanced Air, LLC Check Airmen.
  • FCC Restricted Radio Operator’s Permit

Necessary Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of flying techniques required for day, night and instrument flying conditions;
  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures;
  • Customer/Client Focus
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Knowledgeable of the Operations Manual, Company Manual, Federal Aviation Administration Regulations, Operations Specifications, Flight Manuals, and other instructions pertinent to assigned duties.

Special Requirements:

  • Must be able to work flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Maintain a current medical certificate as required by the company
  • Current US Passport with at least 6 months remaining at all times during employment period

Tools & Equipment Used:

IPad for pilot flight, flight logs. Shared pilot computer, including word-processing, database and spreadsheet programs; calculator, telephone, copy and fax machine. GPS equipment, radio, telephone, or Email contact with the flight department, often enough during the course of a flight to ensure that operational messages are promptly conveyed.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to manipulate, push, pull, and lift heavy objects in excess of 150 lbs.
  • Ability to climb onto and off of an airplane wing as part of the preflight, post flight, or during an over wing emergency exit
  • Digital dexterity for aircraft preflight and post flight
  • Ability to execute flights of up to 4.5 hours up to a total flight time of 10 hours per day during a 14 hour duty period

Environment fluctuates between work in extreme temperatures, including cold and heat. Environment is also exposed to work in altitudes higher than sea level.

PICs are on a full service-training contract with unlimited simulator usage and recurrent aircraft systems ground training,

Schedule & Compensation:

Flight Crews will work an 8 day On Schedule followed by 6 days off. Days that are listed as “On” flight crews will be available to work for Advanced Air. Days that do not have assigned flying will have a set On Call period to them. On Call periods will require flight crew to be within two hours of the airport and in a fit to fly state.

PICs will a compensated at a salary rate of $110,000.00 for the starting year. After one year compensation will be reviewed. PICs will be paid at a rate of $800.00 per day while working on a scheduled day off. Per Diem will be paid in accordance with the Advanced Air’s Per Diem Policy. Training contract will be required for 12 months from date of completion of initial training.
