What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Billing Specialist for Newark Chiropractic Office position at Advanced Back & Neck Pain Center?
We are an award winning, family owned Chiropractic office located in Newark, DE looking for a Billing Specialist. We offer our patients chiropractic treatment, physical therapy, and massage therapy. The Billing Specialist is a very important role in the office and the right candidate will ideally display the following experience:
· 3-5 years in the medical/chiropractic billing field
· Experience processing commercial insurance claims, PI/Work Comp claims, Medicare/Medicaid claims
· Experience working with billing platforms such as NaviNet, Gateway, Optum
· Ability to pursue payments and appeals to insurance companies
· ICD-10 and CPT knowledge necessary for billing
· Delinquent bill collections
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Strong math, bookkeeping and accounting skills
· Experience working within Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications
Typical day to day duties can vary, but some responsibilities may include the following:
- Maintaining records: Keeping accurate records of accounts and balances, and managing the accounts receivable database
- Preparing bills: Preparing and posting bills, invoices, and receipts
- Monitoring accounts: Monitoring the status of accounts and balances, and checking for inconsistencies
- Communicating with customers: Contacting customers to inform them of outstanding debts and deadlines, or to provide support
- Preparing reports: Preparing detailed reports on billing activity
- Upholding confidentiality: Maintaining a high level of confidentiality and upholding client confidentiality policies
- Updated credentialing for doctors via CAQH
- Some minor HR duties such as collecting and filing tax forms, completed office policies, etc.
- Inventory management and supply purchasing
- Bank trips to deposit money
- Correspondence with local attorneys
This is primarily a behind the scenes role, but will still require some patient interaction as well as daily interaction with office manager and doctors. The person in this role can expect to work about 30 hours each week. No weekend or evening work will be required.
