What are the responsibilities and job description for the HHW Project Supervisor position at Advanced Chemical Transport LLC?
As an HHW Project Supervisor (PS), you are involved in the management of environmental services, specifically for cities, counties, and other municipalities. Examples of these services are, waste management, emergency response services, decontamination services and overall compliance of the sites. The PS will act as liaison with the different federal, state and county agencies that routinely audit the client’s facilities or sites and will report to the Operations Manager.
Accountabilities-Primary
- Safely and responsibly supervise and manage all aspects of HHW Projects
- Develop knowledge of work zone set up and waste staging area
- Attend meetings with clients and employees
- Communicate professionally and courteously, both written and orally, at all times with clients and staff
- Evaluate performance of staff and equipment
- Enlist ACT corporate resources as needed to ensure 100% customer satisfaction (i.e., staffing and equipment as-needed)
- Develop written Health & Safety Plans / Contingency Plans / Site Plans
- Complete HHW events within strict budgeted guidelines
- Load and unload vehicles
- Segregate hazardous waste and understand waste characterization, sorting and packaging
- Ability to complete all hazardous and non-hazardous waste documentation and shipping papers on-site
- Ability to generate reports per customer requests and assist with annual submittals (i.e., Form 303)
- Availability to work weekends and extended hours as needed
Accountabilities-Secondary
- Responsible for the collection, proper packaging of waste to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance
- Sample and profile new waste streams or any wastes needing analytical testing
- Prepare and/or review all necessary tracking paperwork
- Evaluate specialty waste materials such as gas cylinders and potentially-explosive compounds and determine disposal options
- Schedule transportation and disposal for outgoing wastes as needed
- Ability to work weekends and/or overtime as needed
Skills and Experience
- At least three years prior experience in the hazardous materials/waste industry
- HHW project management experience preferred
- Familiarity with EPA, DOT and applicable state and local regulations
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Computer skills (specifically MS Word and Excel)
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background, physical and drug screen

Education and Training
- B.S. in Chemistry, Biology or Environmental Science preferred
- 40-hour OSHA training
- Current 8-hour Refresher
- DOT training
